I no sooner read The Economist's review of The Oxford Book of Parodies than said volume was in my Amazon shopping cart.
One tidbit (or titbit, if you're a Brit) from Wendy Cope:
In April one seldom feels cheerful;
Dry stones, sun and dust make me fearful;
Clairvoyantes distress me,
Commuters depress me—
Met Stetson and gave him an earful.
Takes me right back to English 101 my freshman year at college.
